Sometimes it’s good to reflect on the things we are grateful for. I thankfully have a lengthy list, but here are two of the recent opportunities I am grateful for…
That 24-Hour Thing
I am grateful for the awesome producers, Hannah and Ron, the incredible director, Dhyana, and the wonderful actors, Laura and Kenny. These people rocked the script that I wrote for That 24-Hour Thing during Fringe Festival. It is a joy to make an audience laugh, and I couldn’t have done it without these amazing people.
“The Perfect Spot” (10-Minute Play): Carli is a confident clerk looking to make a little extra dough on the job at a self-storage facility. Jordan is a potential customer who needs to find the right unit…or does he?
Pam Kragen even mentioned the piece in her San Diego Union-Tribune review, “One last dispatch from the Fringe: 8 shows close annual festival“:
“‘The Perfect Spot’ by Liz Silverman was a particularly clever faceoff between a secretive college student and the enterprising rental agent at a self-storage facility.”
Supers
I am grateful for the upcoming production of my one-act play, Supers, through Cygnet Theatre’s military outreach program Cygnet Serves. One of the goals is to bring theatre to veterans and military families who might not otherwise get to the theatre. A huge shout out to Taylor for her excellent dramaturgy work. Without her, this play probably wouldn’t have been written! I am also grateful to the actors, director, and producer who are rehearsing diligently to bring this piece to life.
“Supers” (One Act Play): In a world full of superheros and supervillains, the kids of the supers struggle to find their own way through the maze of family expectations and peer pressure. Kaylee, the daughter of the Caped Crusaders, is forced to confront her preconceptions when the son of the Duo of Doom transfers into her middle school. Supers is a lighthearted comedy about coming of age, learning to define ourselves on our own terms, and finding empathy for those who might be different.
